Our network
Anchored at Makerere, working with institutions, donors, ministries, and the community
HIRI's work is built on long-running collaborations — with health ministries, universities, research institutes, donors, and the public — both in Uganda and internationally. Together we translate scientific research into health informatics solutions that reach the communities who need them.
Our funders
Supported by the Government of Uganda and international development partners
HIRI is currently funded by both the Government of the Republic of Uganda and international development partners. We are grateful for the sustained backing that makes our research, training, and community engagement possible.

Public engagement & involvement
Health informatics, built with the communities it serves
HIRI welcomes members of the public who would like to get involved in efforts to bring digital and health informatics solutions to the community in Uganda and globally. We invite the public to engage and work with us in our research activities — through providing test cases, health data for analyses, technical and specialised expertise, and other scientific contributions.
Contribute test cases & expertise
Share real-world health scenarios, technical know-how, or specialised domain expertise that strengthens our research.
Provide health data for analysis
Help us build evidence by contributing health data — under ethical, governed, and consented frameworks.
Co-design solutions with us
Work alongside our researchers and informaticians to shape solutions that fit the communities who will use them.
Become a partner
Partner with HIRI, fund our research, or collaborate on a project
If your institution, agency, or organisation would like to explore a partnership, joint research, training collaboration, or funding opportunity with HIRI, we'd be glad to hear from you.
