Prof. Esther Buregyeya

Prof. Esther Buregyeya is a Medical Physician and Public Health Scientist at the School of Public Health with a strong background in field research for over 15–20 years of experience in designing and implementing community and facility-based research, mainly in HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, mHealth and AMR, and longitudinal research including CTs.

She is a One Health Champion and member of the AMR National Task Force and One Health Platform, and a PI on several AMR grants including:

The Fleming Fund Country Grant I on institutionalization of AMR surveillance, and antimicrobial stewardship in Uganda; Using a behavioural approach to design an antimicrobial stewardship intervention in healthcare facilities in Kampala, Mukono and Luwero Districts, Uganda funded by Pfizer; and Strengthening antimicrobial stewardship through a nurse-led program in Mukono District Hospital, Uganda, funded by THET.
